Dreams of Icarus
“The dreamer and storyteller Icarus is winningly played by Dylan Weand. It is a sincere and committed performance. Mr. Weand wins the audience over, and though we know how the story will end, we exult with Icarus as he dons wings and soars ecstatically through the heavens. He has strong control of his facial expressions and of the extensive choreography in the piece. Mr. Weand is another actor I am looking forward to seeing in the future.” “The telling of this story is the reason to see this show. It is an explosion of talent and energy and conviction.”

“Outcry Theatre takes on a classical myth of two brothers and adapts it for a modern audience thorough both poetic language and a fantastic (and very demanding) physical movement performance. In Dreams of Icarus, director Becca Johnson-Spinos and actors Logan Beutel and Dylan Weand together co-create and devise an intricate and totally accessible narrative that clearly exposes the heart of the struggle between the mythical Icarus and his older brother, Deadalus.” “Go for the story, the wonderful music, and marvel at the energetic and heart-felt performance.”

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
“Weand is a strong physical actor and those skills are on display as he brings Christopher to life on stage.”

Let The Right One In
“Dylan Weand and Charli Henn are marvels in the central roles. Weand’s Oskar is awkward and uncertain, not quite understanding his attraction to this strange being. His youthful pursuit of Eli is charming…These are performances I won’t soon forget.”
- Doug Sturdivant, DFW Center Stage
“While everyone was well choreographed, Weand and Henn are the definite stand outs – they move so fluidly, both independently and in sync with one another. It’s no surprise to see in the program that they both assisted with the choreography.”

Dreams of Icarus
“Created by Becca Johnson-Spinos, Logan Beutel (Daedalus), and Dylan Weand (Icarus) Dreams of Icarus takes the mythological premise and runs with it. Dreams of Icarus explores the poignant attachment of all brothers, with all the tumultuous, kinetic, vibrant capaciousness of powerful emotion. The monologues are intuitive, oracular, fanciful, yet grounded in human experience.”
- Christopher Soden, Sharp Critic
“Dreams of Icarus from Outcry Theatre defies categorization. Is it a play? Is it performance art? Is it a modern ballet? Whatever it is, this retelling of the myth of Icarus and Daedalus is a beautiful piece of art.” “Weand and Beutel deftly pull on our heartstrings as well as engaging our minds.” “Dreams of Icarus is a unique and engrossing evening of theater unlike anything else I have experienced in the Metroplex. Don't try to categorize it. Just let its beauty take wing and sweep over you.”
- Doug Sturdivant, DFW Center Stage
